MICRONEEDLING

Enjoy the Results of Collagen Induction Therapy for the Face, Neck, and More in St. Louis

Microneedling at the St. Louis-based West County Plastic Surgeons' spa is an innovative way to treat the appearance of fine lines and acne scars, as well as improve the skin's overall appearance.

Our highly trained and experienced aestheticians will glide a device that uses sterile, single-use, surgical-grade needles across your skin to create superficial micro-injuries. Each micro-injury will trigger skin-rejuvenating healing processes. This technique—also known as collagen induction therapy or CIT—stimulates the regeneration of skin cells, known as re-epithelialization, leading to healthier skin with a smoother color and texture. The treatment is ideal for correcting age-related changes, sun damage, and general dullness on the face, as well as the neck and elsewhere.

What to Expect from a Treatment Session

Every person has unique skin needs and requirements. At the West County Plastic Surgeons spa, a single microneedling session will usually take 60 minutes, which includes a topical numbing phase. The variable needle depth feature possible with microneedling enables your professional aesthetician to customize your treatment for the best possible clinical results.

Each small channel made in the skin prompts a healing response, but leaves no lasting mark. Natural healing processes repair the tiny wound, as well as improve the health and look of surrounding skin, by creating more collagen and elastin—the substances that help skin maintain strength and elasticity. Microneedling works gradually, so the effects will be noticeable in a few weeks.

There’s virtually no downtime needed after microneedling, and patients can return to their normal daily activities as soon as they are comfortable. Take measures to protect your skin from the sun while it’s healing, because it will be particularly sensitive. Also, avoid harsh exfoliants or alcohol-based skin products.

Microneedling for St. Louis: What Can it Treat?

A wide range of common tone and texture irregularities on the face, neck, and body can be improved with microneedling. These skin concerns include:

  • Acne Scars and other types of scars
  • Age Spots/sunspots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven textures
  • Stretch marks

Today was my second microneedling procedure with my Esthetician Jennifer Hannon. I am so happy with my results so far. Wrinkles and acne scars have softened and some completely disappeared. Jennifer is so nice and professional. She has answered all my questions each visit and explained what to expect afterward. I highly recommend West County Plastic Surgeons and look forward to my next procedure with Jennifer.

Microneedling for the Single Area

While the face is an especially common and visible feature that patients want to treat with microneedling, the neck is also an important (and often overlooked) area that should also be considered. In fact, for many people, the neck is one of the places where signs of aging first develop. Also, treating just the face but leaving the neck alone can create a significant “divide” between the rejuvenated skin above and still-older-looking skin below. Targeting both the face and neck ensures that the skin will look and feel rejuvenated both above and below the chin.

  • Anesthesia: Topical.
  • Length of procedure: Up to 60 minutes.
  • Estimated recovery time: None needed.
  • Side effects: Some mild swelling and/or redness.
  • Price: $375 per treatment, or three for $1,025.

More Skin Rejuvenation Options

Beyond microneedling, other spa services available at West County Plastic Surgeons include dermaplaning, chemical peels, and facials. Similar to microneedling, these treatments are designed to enhance the tone and texture of skin.

Dermaplaning and microdermabrasion are manual exfoliation techniques to remove dull, dead skin from the outer surface, while peels involve applying a solution to induce a controlled effect that sloughs away the top layer. Facials consist of a combination of cleansing and extraction techniques.

Our aestheticians work to develop personalized treatment plans that deliver long-lasting desired results. Many spa options can complement other skincare solutions and even surgical procedures.
