TLT with HydraSolve® in St. Louis
Tissue liquefaction technology (TLT) represents one of the newest forms of liposuction technology currently available. Some devices rely on heat energy to dislodge fat cells, while others may rely on a water jet. But TLT is different. HydraSolve®, the only TLT device currently available, relies on a synergy between gentle suction and low energy pulsed packets of warmed saline to gingerly separate fat cells from the body. The applied energy and heat are low enough to avoid tissue trauma, and when they work together the result is liposuction with minimal bruising, swelling and pain.
How TLT Works
First, a tiny incision, just a couple millimeters long, is placed near the area of desired fat removal. The area is then treated with a "wetting solution" that minimizes pain and bleeding. The HydraSolve® cannula is then placed through the same tiny incision. Packets of saline fluid, warmed to a balmy ≥100°F and pressured to ≥900 psi, separate nearby fat cells from one another. This tissue is then gently sucked into a blunt side-port located on the HydraSolve® cannula. This gentle process leaves the remaining normal tissue structure intact, leading to minimal bruising and bleeding.
TLT and Fat Grafting
HydraSolve® is an excellent device for harvesting fat cells for fat grafting – a process whereby fat cells are removed with liposuction and then transferred elsewhere in the body for cosmetic or reconstructive purposes. In fact, on April 24, 2013, the HydraSolve® device became the first and only device FDA-cleared for autologous fat grafting. Fat transfer with HydraSolve® can be used to further improve the results of facelift surgery, breast surgery, and many other forms of plastic surgery. Dr. Myckatyn and Dr. Tenenbaum have also studied the effectiveness of the HydraSolve® device in more than 130 patients undergoing touch-ups following breast reconstruction and found it to be safe, efficient and effective. Compared to other technologies, fat transfer with TLT takes less time to perform with a quicker recovery.
Liposuction with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon
Far more important than the specific liposuction technique are the skill and expertise of the surgeon performing it. Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery demonstrates that a plastic surgeon has received extensive, rigorous education and hands-on training performing these procedures, and that he or she has successfully completed exams demonstrating their expertise in this area. For board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Terry Myckatyn and Dr. Marissa Tenenbaum, your safety and satisfaction are their foremost concerns, and they can help you determine which body-contouring procedure, or combination of procedures, would best achieve your individual goals.
