Dermal Fillers

What Are the Injectable Filler Options Available in St. Louis?

West County Plastic Surgeons offers dermal fillers for St. Louis residents who prefer a nonsurgical approach to reducing the visible signs of facial aging, primarily caused by loss of collagen, the breakdown of elastin and hyaluronic acid, and shifting facial fat. As we grow older, our skin naturally loses volume. This soft-tissue loss and degeneration can lead to many of a number of common signs of aging, which can be quickly, safely, and successfully treated with dermal fillers in our St. Louis office. Treatments are available to address:

  • Thin or wrinkled lips
  • Hollow and deflated cheeks
  • Tear-trough grooves under the eyes
  • Sagging cheeks and jowls
  • Nose and mouth creases

Injectable dermal fillers work below the skin's surface, helping our patients by enhancing or restoring volume in their cheeks, lifting their mid-face and jowls, filling in their wrinkles and grooves, and creating a smoother, tighter skin surface. Depending on the specific dermal fillers used, results can last up to a year or more.

The effects of various fillers can be combined for a global rejuvenation, and they can also be paired with other injectables and nonsurgical treatments—such as BOTOX® Cosmetic—to provide a naturally harmonious and youthful look.

Dermal Fillers Available for Our St. Louis Patients

Years of research and clinical testing validate the science behind the FDA-approved injectable dermal fillers we offer at our St. Louis practice. Options abound beyond collagen, once the most common treatment for lips and other areas of the face.

JUVEDERM®

JUVEDERM® dermal fillers restore volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, including "laugh lines," "smile lines" (nasolabial folds), "tear troughs," and "marionette lines" (oral commissures) for months at a time. There are also options for plumping lips. We offer several dermal fillers in the JUVEDERM® line—including VOLUMA®, VOLLURE®, VOLBELLA®, and Ultra—at our St. Louis practice.

RADIESSE®

RADIESSE® volumizing dermal filler restores volume in the "smile lines" (nasolabial folds), "marionette lines" (oral commissures), and the central face. Results last approximately 12 to 18 months.

RHA®

Revance's RHA® collection uses a hyaluronic acid base specially formulated to resist breaking down in areas of the face that are frequently in motion. The dermal filler's robust volume can smooth out nasolabial folds and other signs of aging for up to 15 months.

Lip Augmentation

Lip injections (this links to the new page we are creating as part of this task) help patients to enhance and reshape their lips to improve their size and how their lips look in proportion to surrounding facial features. Multiple dermal fillers can be used to add volume to the lips. Your injector will help you select the ideal filler for you during your consultation.

Small amounts of BOTOX® Cosmetic are occasionally used to optimize the effects of a lip augmentation. For lip injections, we have found that most dermal fillers tend to last longer in areas where there is less motion—although newer “resistant hyaluronic acid” options counter this by handing high-contraction areas well. BOTOX® is often carefully administered to weaken the orbicularis oris muscle that helps us purse our lips. This reduces motion in that area and leads to longer-lasting results.
