Injectables

Enjoy the Results of Popular Nonsurgical Treatments in St. Louis

In addition to facial, body, and breast-focused surgical procedures, our plastic surgeon-led team also specializes in noninvasive skin-care solutions and anti-aging treatments. The most popular treatments at West County Plastic Surgeons—and the entire United States—are injectables. St. Louis-area women and choose them to treat fine lines and wrinkles on the face, as well as soft-tissue loss and degeneration in the lips, cheeks, and jowls, and around the eyes, nose, and mouth.

While many beauty-related professionals profess to offer injectables, patients seeking nonsurgical cosmetic solutions should know that these treatments, while convenient and safe, are medical procedures. They should always be handled by an experienced, specially trained, and licensed medical professional. Not only does this minimize risk to the patient, it also maximizes the ultimate aesthetic outcome. The West County Plastic Surgeons team works to stay current on best practices related to injectables, undergoing official training for the benefit of each woman and man who chooses the treatment.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

A muscle relaxer that makes use of the powerful Botulinum toxin to generate results that last for months, BOTOX® Cosmetic is an injectable with a range of cosmetic and medical applications. It is most commonly applied to address wrinkles between the eyes, forehead lines, bunny lines on the nose, crow's feet, low eyebrows, thin-appearing lips, neck bands, and sweaty palms and armpits.

XEOMIN®

Another injectable Botulinum toxin-based muscle relaxer, XEOMIN®, also works to temporarily prevent the proper transmission of signals that prompt wrinklerevealing contractions. Since the targeted muscles stay at rest for months at a time, associated facial lines are less noticeable, resulting in a smoother, more youthful look.

Kybella®

The formula for this injectable is derived from a naturally occurring dietary acid know as "deoxycholic acid." Kybella® is injected into the neck area to reduce the number of fat cells that create a double chin. Volume reduces in the area over time, leading to a sleeker and slimmer look.

Juvederm®

Juvederm® is the name for a line of injectable fillers that all feature hyaluronic acid. Though they all work the same—adding volume to the skin where vital elements have degraded—each has a unique focus: Ultra® XC and Volbella® are for plumping the lips and smoothing out lip lines, Voluma® is for restoring a youthful contour to the cheeks, and Vollureā„¢is for reducing the appearance of moderate to severe nasolabial folds and similar lines.

RHA®

There are three fillers in the Revance RHA® line, all of which maintain hyaluronic acid's natural molecular structure and attract water to improve hydration in addition to adding volume. RHA® 2 is used for filling in under-eye hollows and reducing the severity of mild to moderate lines in the lower half of the face. RHA® 3 works to address moderate to severe lines, and RHA®4 is used for especially deep facial lines, as well as to correct mid-face deflation.

Other Dermal Fillers

There are numerous injectables that work to add volume to the face and elsewhere. Other dermal fillers available at West County Plastic Surgeons include Belotero Balance® (with hyaluronic acid) and Radiesse® (with microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite suspended in a gel). The injectables with microspheres stimulate new collagen production in addition to providing volume.

In general, injectables require minimal downtime—if any—following a treatment session. Minimal side effects can be expected, with any bruising, swelling, redness, or localized discomfort fading naturally in the hours or days after an injection.
