Medium Depth Chemical Peels

Enjoy a Rejuvenated Look with Customized Chemical Solutions in St. Louis

The outermost layer of skin is the most visible. Unfortunately, that means evidence of aging, sun exposure, and environmental damage is typically on display for everyone to see. Everything from fine lines to rough texture to spots can develop over time. Chemical peels at St. Louis’ West County Plastic Surgeons are solutions that take off the worn outermost layers of skin, exposing the smoother, fresher skin beneath.

There is no singular chemical peel that works best for every person. Peels come in different strengths and may be left on the skin for varying amounts of time, with details depending on a patient’s aesthetic goals. People typically seek out chemical peels to improve the look of their facial skin, though the solutions are also often applied to the hands, neck, and décolleté to give these areas a smoother and more youthful look.

Chemical peels (even medium depth chemical peels) are considered to be minimally invasive treatments for the wrinkles, spots, scars, and pigmentation differences caused by UV rays from the sun, acne, and the effects of aging.

What Types of Chemical Peels Are Available at West County Plastic Surgeons?

There are several options when it comes to medium depth chemical peels:

VI Peel®

This is the “original” VI peel, containing a synergistic blend of powerful ingredients suitable for all skin types and providing dramatic results with virtually no pain, no skin preparation, and little downtime. Why wait weeks or months for results? Enjoy radiant, younger-looking skin in about a week with this chemical peel.

Because of its formula and versatility, this peel is appropriate for patients of all ages and skin types, and it can be especially ideal for someone trying chemical peels for the first time. Results include improved texture and radiance.

The price for this peel is $300.

VI Peel® Body

Your face is not the only part of you that could benefit from the rejuvenating effects of a chemical peel! This first-of-its-kind chemical peel is a pain-free option for anyone who could benefit from a smoother texture and more radiant look on their chest or back. VI® Peel Body encourages collagen production and speeds up the cellular turnover process.

The formula is strong enough to address body acne, acne and other scars, stretch marks, and even some sagging on various parts of the body, as well as pigmentation and fine textural irregularities on the décolleté. Despite its strength, it is appropriate and safe for patients with a range of skin types. As its makers at the Vitality Institute say, “it’s a peel for every body!”

The price for this peel is $500.

VI Peel Advanced

This may be obvious, but signs of aging become more prominent as people get older! For patients who are 40 years old—and greater—a more powerful peel may be required to address deeper wrinkles and a greater loss of skin elasticity. The VI Peel Advanced is blended to provide deeper penetration and boost both collagen production and skin cell turnover.

The more intense and powerful chemical peel is formulated to address both deeper-set wrinkles and fine lines, giving the skin an overall smoother look and feel. The resulting increase in collagen production also helps skin to feel firmer and be supported due to increased internal structure.

The price for this peel is $350.

VI Peel Precision Plus

This precision peel is the most popular option in the Vitality Institute’s line. Dubbed a “powerhouse,” it’s designed to curb melanin production, which means minimizing the creation of new pigment in the skin. In addition to generally brightening the skin and creating a more evenly textured surface, VI Peel Precision Plus can target everything from overall sun damage to melasma—a condition that causes a patchypigmented appearance to develop, most commonly in pregnant women.

VI Peel Precision Plus triggers a resurfacing process that shows results in about a week. Patients typically enjoy skin that is brighter and that looks and feels renewed.

The price for this peel is $350.

VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus

Many people don’t simply have just one issue they are aiming to address with a chemical peel. Skin conditions are often linked, even crossing lines between medical and cosmetic issues. Acne, for example, is commonly associated with pigmentation problems, as well as scarring. If you’re dealing with all of the above, a session that blends VI Peel Purify with Precision Plus could be amazingly effective.

By combining two strategies in one, this chemical peel can target multiple concerns. The purifying portion removes pore-clogging dead skin and oil, while the precision part works to reduce melanin production. The result is a more even tone, a brighter appearance, and even minimized acne scars.

The price for this peel is $350.

What Are Some More Details About Chemical Peels?

Each peel is unique, but the entire process can take up to five minutes. Expect three to five days of estimated recovery time as your skin heals, but know that the stronger the chemical peel, the more significant the recovery process.

Chemical peels can cause some mild swelling and redness, so plan to take a little social downtime in the days after your session. We can discuss more about what to expect at a personalized consultation when we will go over your unique goals, examine your skin, and create a plan designed to bring you beautiful results.

There is also a Brightening Booster that can be an add-on service to any peel. Including the AnteAge Brightening Booster costs $90.

What Options Are Available Beyond Medium Depth Chemical Peels at West County Plastic Surgeons?

Superficial chemical peels are another strategy for improving the look and feel of the skin, especially if the targeted problems aren’t as deep or dramatic. These peels can complement and enhance facials, and require less time—both in terms of application and after. Sessions may be as short as 20 minutes, and there is virtually no recovery to speak of. Post-peel pinkness and flaking can even be disguised under makeup.

Our team has a diverse array of skincare treatments available to meet the needs of a wide range of patients. In addition to chemical peels, patients can choose from collagen-inducing microneedling, exfoliation and nourishing HydraFacial treatments, light-based photo facials, and dermaplaning to remove peach fuzz and surface-level debris.

Which treatment—or mix of treatments—is best for you? We can help you figure that out! Arrange a consultation with a member of our experienced team to get personal attention and recommendations tailored specifically to you. Whether you would benefit from a medium-depth chemical peel, a gentle facial, or even something completely different—like wrinkle-relaxing BOTOX® injections or a surgical facelift—the process starts with a visit. We’re looking forward to hearing from you!
