Smooth Dynamic Wrinkles with the RHA Collection in St. Louis
Until the RHA® collection, injectable dermal fillers were devoted exclusively to adding volume to hollow areas and smoothing "static wrinkles" that form due to age-related volume loss. Revance fillers at St. Louis' West County Plastic Surgeons are the first such injectables that can treat the "dynamic wrinkles" that develop as muscles repeatedly crease the skin over years and decades.

What Is the Revance RHA® Collection?
Healthy and youthful-looking skin has abundant hyaluronic acid, a sugar molecule that binds to water and keeps the surface looking full and smooth. Hyaluronic acid production slows over time, and the molecules also break down more quickly due to ultraviolet radiation exposure. The gradual loss leads to the development of facial wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds that resemble parenthesis.
The Revance RHA® collection is designed to counter the signs of this breakdown. Many fillers do not work well or last long in particularly active areas of the face, because constant muscle motion makes the stationary filler more obvious, activity causes the filler to break down more quickly, or both. Revance's RHA® collection is specifically designed to hold up in high-motion areas, as well as to adapt to facial movements so that it maintains a natural look by mimicking hyaluronic acid made in the skin.
The formula allows your face to look younger whether in motion or at rest.
How Do the Revance Fillers Work?
An especially gentle manufacturing process allows Revance to preserve the hyaluronic acid molecules' natural structure in the RHA® fillers. Once injected, the filler of choice adds volume in areas where volume has been depleted. The HA molecules bind to water, providing more moisture and giving the skin a more apparent structure.
The cosmetic effects have been shown to last up to 15 months under ideal conditions.
What Are the Various Options from Revance?
Revance makes multiple formulations of RHA® fillers available in the United States:
RHA® 2 is ideal for moderate wrinkles and folds, which are just starting to become deeper and appear in very active areas, such as right around the mouth. It can also fill in hollows that develop beneath the eyes.
RHA® 3 is more appropriate for moderate to severe lines, such as nasolabial folds, as well as marionette lines between the edges of the mouth and chin.
Both of these options from Revance are injected "mid to deep" into the skin.
RHA® 4 is a "heavy hitter" designed for deep injection to correct deep lines and hollows, including mid-face deflation.
On the other end, Redensity™ is designed for “fine tuning” facial lines around the mouth, often referred to as “smoker’s lines” or vertical lip lines.
Which is the Best Treatment for You?
Because every patient is different, there is no single answer that works for everyone when it comes to the question of addressing signs of aging. While Revance's fillers will be the ideal solution for some, others may benefit more from the hyaluronic acid-based filler Juvederm®, the muscle-relaxing BOTOX®, a combination of injectables, or even other treatments entirely.
The best way to determine which would meet your cosmetic needs is to come in for a consultation so we can assess your skin and get you started with a treatment plan.
