What Is Daxxify™?
Daxxify™ is an injectable neuromodulator, which is a medication that prevents contractions in specifically targeted muscles. By relaxing the facial muscles responsible for causing frown lines to develop and deepen, Daxxify™ can help the face to appear younger and refreshed.
The active ingredient is a form of botulinum toxin, which has been used for decades in the health industry for both medical and cosmetic purposes. When injected into muscles, it inhibits the release of a chemical messenger that triggers contractions.
Unlike similar injectable treatments, Daxxify™ is made with peptides, which means it can be stored at room temperature. Some patients find that to make for a more comfortable treatment experience.

What Can Daxxify™ Treat?
Daxxify™ targets dynamic wrinkles, which are facial lines created by repetitive muscle contractions. When you knit your brows together in confusion, scowl, or squint, the skin above the nose and between the eyebrows is pushed into creases. Over time, these creases become more and more noticeable. Left untreated, they can stay visible even when the skin is at rest.
The FDA approved Daxxify™ specifically to treat these wrinkles between the brows, known as glabellar lines or frown lines. Many people also refer to them as 11’s—because the wrinkles typically develop as two short, vertical lines right next to each other, resembling the number 11.
What Can You Expect from a Daxxify™ Session in St. Louis?
The West County Plastic Surgeons team is highly trained and experienced in administering a wide range of aesthetic treatments, including injectables and—specifically—neuromodulators. Every effort is made to create a welcoming and safe environment, as well as to maximize patient comfort.
Injection sessions are brief, with the treatments themselves requiring no more than 15 minutes to administer. Each injection is quick, and many people compare the feeling to a brief pinch.
What Happens After Daxxify™ Injections?
No down time is required after a Daxxify™ session, so patients can return to whatever they need to do with their day as soon as they’d like.
Side effects can be expected, but they are typically very minor: slight swelling at the treatment site, redness, itching, and other injection-related effects. All are easily managed and will resolve in a short amount of time following a treatment.
Avoid pressing, rubbing, or putting pressure on the treatment area in the days following a session in order to keep the medication as close to the injection site as possible. Also avoid lying flat or engaging in heavy cardio exercise for three to four hours after a treatment.
What Results Can Be Expected from Daxxify™?
It can take a few days for the results of a Daxxify™ treatment to become visible, and a little longer for the full effect to develop. Once frown lines are smoothed away, patients can reasonably expect the results to last for anywhere from four to six months. Some women and men who choose the injectable will enjoy relaxed frown lines for up to nine months!
