WHICH IMPLANT TYPE IS BEST: SALINE OR SILICONE?

This is certainly among our most common breast augmentation FAQs, and at some point you will have to choose between saline and silicone breast implants. However, there is no one best breast implant type for all women, and much depends on other factors such as the breast implant shape you prefer. Both saline and silicone implants have an outer silicone shell, but they differ on the inside. Saline implants are filled with a sterile saltwater solution. The implant’s outer shell is positioned in the chest before it is filled with saline and the incision is closed. This implant type is available to women 18 and older.

Trusted. Experienced. Committed.

Silicone implants are pre-filled with a silicone gel that some women describe as feeling like honey or, in the case of “gummy bear” implants, like JELL-O® or gummy bears. This implant type is available to women 22 and older, because of FDA recommendations.

Each implant type has advantages and disadvantages, so it is important to select a board-certified plastic surgeon who will spend plenty of time with you during your initial consultation to explain those benefits and drawbacks, consider your aesthetic goals and personal lifestyle, and then help you select the best implant type for you.
