Who Is Daxxify™ Best For?

Who is a good candidate for Daxxify injections? Our St. Louis-based team knows that patients may be wondering whether they should give this innovative new injectable treatment a try.

Daxxify™ was recently approved by the FDA for the treatment of moderate to several glabellar lines, more commonly known as frown lines. Although it works the same way as other botulinum toxin treatments—by injecting a small amount into underlying muscles to cause the tissue to relax and give the skin a smoother appearance—there are some key differences between Daxxify™ and other injectables. It’s the first and only peptide enhanced injectable for reducing wrinkles and is very long-lasting with a duration of six months on average—and can last up to nine months for some patients. It’s also currently the only vegan neurotoxin available.

Unlike other neuromodulators, it does not contain human serum albumin or animal-based components. Its unique, peptide-enhanced formulation is what gives it an increased longevity because the neurotoxin adheres better to the receptor, and it tends to remain tightly bound at the neuromuscular junction for a longer time. So with all this in mind, who is Daxxify best for?

In most cases, anyone who wants to soften lines and wrinkles may be eligible for this injectable. People who are candidates for neurotoxins in general are likely to be good candidates for Daxxify. Those who are trying injectables for the first time may prefer an injection with a shorter lifespan so that they can get a better idea of how their body responds to botulinum toxin treatments. If you’re a long-time user of BOTOX® Cosmetic or other neuromodulators, there’s a good chance that you would be an ideal candidate for Daxxify.

The best choice of neuromodulator for you depends on your aesthetic goals. If you have a busy lifestyle and don’t want to come in for injections as often, you may prefer Daxxify. However, if you want a more customizable treatment that fades faster, you may prefer another type of wrinkle injection. If you have a high metabolism and go through other neuromodulators at a fast rate or don’t respond to those other treatments well (or at all), Daxxify may be a good option for you to try.
